The 5th EU Clean Air Forum took place on 1–2 December 2025 in Bonn, Germany, hosted by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Our recently completed Horizon 2020 RI-URBANS project  was presented during the event.

The Forum highlighted the significant progress of EU clean air policies over the past two decades, while emphasising that air pollution remains a major environmental health risk. The two-day programme brought together European policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders to discuss scientific advances, policy evaluation, and solutions for cleaner air and healthier cities.

Key topics included:

• Earth observation and Copernicus satellite data for air quality

• Artificial intelligence and machine learning in air quality assessment

• Clean air innovation and investments

• Evaluation of the National Emission reduction Commitments (NEC) Directive

• Regional action on clean air

• Super pollutants and links between air pollution and climate

• Effective communication on clean air and health.

The RI-URBANS project was featured among the event’s exhibitors, showcasing its contribution to strengthening urban and industrial air quality observations and providing enhanced services to European research infrastructures.
