Turning clean urban air

into reality

At RI-URBANS we reshape the way

air quality is measured

Addressing a major health issue

We aim at eliminating hazards posed by bad air quality

Despite vast improvements in recent decades, poor air quality remains a worldwide health problem, causing many deaths every year. In addition, the air pollutants of today are different to those from 15 years ago, creating new hazards that are yet to be studied.

To identify and address these changes, we at RI-URBANS will modify the existing tools used to analyse air quality. This will allow us to better understand and manage these new risks.

At RI-URBANS we reshape the way air quality is measured, and our mission is to transform the concept of clean urban air into a reality.

Improving air quality is a formidable challenge. Newly recognized pollutants like ultrafine particles demand our attention. Even though they were previously overlooked, they pose a major risk to human health. Another major challenge is that primary pollutants originating from industry and traffic can engage in chemical reactions in the atmosphere, giving rise to secondary pollutants, such as ozone.

Take a look at the progress we have made in our mission to improve air quality in Europe.

Scaling-up across the globe

We pilot our approach in real-life environments

We will test our service tools in 9 cities around Europe. Our aim is to provide a roadmap for putting the RI-URBANS solution into practice all over the world.
